Biomass as a green alternative to gas

The brewing industry in the EU faces major challenges: rising energy costs, vulnerable value chains, ambitious climate targets, the decarbonisation of industry and growing customer demands. Since 1 July 2025, Denmark has held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union – a fitting occasion to share experiences on energy efficiency and renewable heat. This is because biomass represents an economical and carbon-neutral alternative to gas. The Vestfyen brewery provides a clear example of this.
